Wotofo Nudge 22 RDA Review

Updated on: 2018-02-24

First Impression Out Of The Box

I’ve always been a big fan of single coil RDAs. I was a little surprised when I got this one in the mail because I was not expecting it. I have always liked the full size Nudge so when I saw this one in the box, I definitely had high expectations for it. This is the single coil 22 mm version of the Nudge. It looks like it comes with two top caps, one with a more open air flow and the other with a more restrictive airflow. I can’t wait to put a coil in it and see how it actually performs.

What’s In The Box

  • One Spare Atomizer Cap
  • One Tool
  • One Bag Comp Wire Coils
  • One Bag Japanese Cotton
  • One Squonk Pin
  • Spare Parts Pack
  • One User Manual

From Top To Bottom

Wow, I have to say that they really did a great job on the drip tip. The included drip tip is a Goon style drip tip and it is tall as well as wide. I really like the way it feels and vapes. It’s just extremely comfortable. If for some reason you do not like this drip tip, Wotofo also included a 510 drip tip adapter. I have to admit, while I am not a fan of the short chuff style DT’s that are on most atomizers today, I think some people are going to have a problem with the fact that one wasn’t included in this package. I think Wotofo should have included a shorter drip tip for the people that like that sort of drip tip. Oh yeah, all of my aftermarket Goon style drip tips fit in it perfectly. So if you do have a shorter style Goon drip tip that you want to run on the Nudge 22, you will have absolutely no issues.

The top cap and barrels on the Nudge 22 are all one piece. There is a cyclops style air flow slot on the exterior of the barrel along with some Nudge branding and a Nudge emblem. The machining on it is really nice and there’s a contour in the barrel towards the top of it. There is a slight platform on top with a recession but it doesn’t affect anything when you are running other drip tips. The interior of the top cap does have a slight conical design to it towards the top. I have to say that the barrel is pretty well-machined.

Along with the stock barrel, you also get a second barrel that has a more restrictive airflow. The airflow opening on the side of that barrel is a little less than half the size of the one that is pre-installed. Everything else is pretty much the same, the only difference being you get a much tighter drawer with this barrel. I have won both of them and they are both very good. I do prefer the wider open barrel because I like more air flow but if I am in the mood for some intense flavor, I switch over to the restrictive airflow barrel. The airflow on both barrels is fully adjustable and very smooth on either one. Both of them vape extremely well.

Both barrels are held in place by dual o’rings that go around the base of the RDA. On the bottom of the base, there is some Wotofo branding and some Suck My Mod branding. The base is 22 mm in diameter and it has a gold plated 510 connection. There is also an insulator ring around the 510 connection. The threading on the 510 connection is very smooth and this atomizer has sat flush on all of the mods that I’ve used it on. The Nudge 22 does come with a squonking pin pre-installed. Please make sure you take note of this and swap out the 510 pin if you want to run it in non-squonk mode. The traditional 510 pin is included in the spare parts package.

The Suck My Mod branding is on the bottom of the atomizer because this atomizer was created by Wotofo in conjunction with Matt from the Suck My Mod YouTube channel. He is a very popular YouTube reviewer and he has done a lot of work with Wotofo in the past. Some of this stuff has been kind of hit or miss but it looks like he’s finally starting to put a string of winners together. I would definitely include this atomizer on that winner’s list.

The Deck

Even though this is a single coil deck, it does have two posts with two terminals per post. The posts are on opposite sides of the atomizer and they create a sort of channel that you place your single coil in the middle of. I like that they went with a two-terminal design because it allows you to mount your coil either way, no matter which way it is wrapped. The terminals open up from the sides and it is very easy to slide flat wire builds in there.

Your leads are held in place by Phillips head screws. The grub screws are of nice quality and so far, I have had no issues with them. In between the two screws of each post is where you will find the airflow slots on the deck. This is a side or bottom airflow sort of deck depending on how high or low you mount your coil. It’s a nice, smooth, air flow system that works very well.

Building And Wicking

This has to be one of the easiest decks to build on. In fact, if you have a Wasp Nano, this deck will be very familiar to you because it is extremely similar. This atomizer actually reminds me a lot of a bigger version of the Wasp Nano. It just seems to have a lot more deck space in it and a lot less metal. That also gives it a much looser airflow than the Nano. It can also take a wider coil than the Nano. Wotofo includes some really nice coils and a bag of cotton in the package. All you really need to do is slap this RDA on a mod and add juice.

The first thing you need to do when you build the Nudge 22 is to figure out which two posts you are actually going to use. Loosen the screws of those two terminals of choice and you are ready to mount your coil. Slide the leads of your coil in from the sides and tighten down the screws. Now, you are ready to use your coiling rod and place your coil properly. I like running coil so that I can see the bottom of the coil through the air flow slot. I find that this gives you the best flavor on this particular atomizer. I tend to run my coil a little bit on the high side so I can get the flavor from underneath the coil. Once you have the proper placement, you can go ahead and pulse your coil to get rid of all of the hot spots.

Wicking this atomizer is just as easy as it gets. All you have to do is pull your cotton through your coil and cut it at the bottom of o’ring of the base. Once your cotton is cut, take your tweezers and tuck it gently into the base of the atomizer. Now you are ready to juice up your coil, put everything back together, and start vaping.

How Does It Vape

You all know that the Wasp Nano is one of my favorite single coil atomizers. I’m not sure if I would anoint the Nudge 22 as the official Wasp killer but it comes damn close to that kind of vape quality. You will get a fantastic single coil vape off of this atomizer. Right now, I have a Framed Alien in there ohming out at .25 ohms at 65 watts in power mode. I am just getting a phenomenal vape. I am using the open air flow barrel and the vape is just beautiful. I get excellent flavor and you would not believe the cloud production for a single coil atomizer. This one is definitely a keeper. If I want even more flavor, I can switch to the more restrictive cap. I will get better flavor but the clouds will suffer a little bit. I just really like the versatility that Wotofo included in this kit by making two barrels for it. I think that’s a fantastic option and I would love to see more manufacturers do something like this. Good on you, Wotofo!

Since the Nudge 22 comes in the box setup as a squonking RDA, we have to talk about how it squonks. I’m here to tell you right now that this is one hell of a squonking RDA. This thing is just made for squonking and it’s squonks beautifully. I know lately a lot of reviewers are all talking about over squonking and leakage. I think it’s just ridiculous and a lot of them are just looking to cause drama, and they know it. Yes, if you squonk it like a moron, it is going to leak. Any atomizer will if you squeeze the bottle like a mental patient. However, if you know what you’re doing and you know your mod, you will have no problems with this RDA as a squonker. This little deck is actually 6mm deep so you really have to squeeze that bottle to flood it. It’s actually an extremely competent squonking RDA. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better single coil squonker with better flavor. It is right up there with the Wasp Nano.

What Would Have Made It Better

  • More Airflow Range

While the airflow on this atomizer is fully adjustable no matter which barrel you use, the range on it is very tight. I would have liked to have seen a little bit of a wider range when it comes to the airflow adjustability. I do want to qualify this statement by saying this is a very nit-picky con. It really doesn’t affect the vape quality of this atomizer and I really had a tough time coming up with something to put in this section. So take what I say here with a grain of salt.

I have to say, this is one of my favorite single coil atomizers at the moment. Do I like it better than my Wasp Nano? It’s really a tough question to answer because while they are very similar when it comes to the deck, the airflow and the vape quality is a little different on them. I tend to get more intense flavor off of the Wasp Nano and I get a much airier vape off of the Nudge 22. However, when I put the restrictive airflow cap on the Nudge 22, I do get a vape that is similar to the Nano. This atomizer also has a lot more deck space and it does hold more juice than the Wasp Nano.

So if you’re looking for something that has the ability to vape like the Nano, but has more space and more juice capacity, this will probably be right up your alley. The bottom line is this is a great single coil atomizer and it comes in a bunch of beautiful colors. Go pick one up because it’s DeucesJack approved. Trust me, you’re going to like this one, especially if you’re into single coil atomizers. It’s so good, I actually retired a Wasp Nano to make room for it. I really liked the 24mm version, this one is better.
