What’s up, Insiders? I’m your man, DeucesJack. Today, we’re going to be going over the Geekvape Aegis squonk.
Before we get into the video, make sure you check out our new merch site. You can get my tagline on a shirt or a hoodie.
From Top to Bottom
Unfortunately, I just got a regular box. I didn’t get that big aluminum case that everybody else got. I’m guessing DeucesJack just doesn’t rate, not yet, at least. So let’s open this thing up. Let me show you what I got here. You got the Aegis Squonker and you got this Tengu dual coil RDA. I’m not going to go over the RDA because I did a full review on it. We’ll put a link down below. But I gotta say this, very disappointed that on a single battery squonker, they put a dual coil RDA. I think they should have went with a single coil RDA. That’s just my opinion.
Here’s the Aegis squonker. Check it out. You’re probably saying to me, “Deuces, where’s the squonker on this thing? There’s no squonk hole.” That’s because mine came preassembled in non-squonk mode. I will show you how to put it in squonk mode.
Besides the RDA, you also get a ton of stuff in here. You get a coiling rod, a tri tool, a hex key. You get some cotton, some Ni80 fused Claptons that ohm out at 0.4. They actually look like nice coils. You get a spare squonk bottle, you get a bunch of spare o-rings, some spare post screws, a 510 drip tip adapter. What else is in there? Looks like you got a spare drip tip and a non-squonking pin, in case you want to use the Tengu in non-squonk mode. You also get a micro USB cable for charging and updates and here is your squonk door with the bottle pre-installed. I’m going to show you how to install this part.
Before we turn it into squonk mode, let me go over the mod for you right here. Fire button, screen, plus, minus. Screws you’re going to take off in order to install it and squonk. Nice leather, almost like a cushiony feel to this part. They did a really nice job on it. Over here, see this little triangle here? Kind of got to have girly nails. You pop that open and there is your micro USB port. Make sure when you put it back, if you want this mod to keep its waterproofness, that you actually stick it in there really good and just push it down. Make sure it seals correctly. On top, we got three star screws holding the stainless steel plate in place. You kind of got this little rubbery thing here. I kind of like it. Stainless steel threading, gold-plated squonking 510 that I would say has a short spring with a stiff throw to it.
Here’s something interesting. You could see, that doesn’t look like a squonk pin and in reality, it’s kind of not because there’s no hole on top but the juice comes from around the edges. I just wanted to point that out because people are going to see this and I’m going to be like, “Where’s the hole? Where’s the juice coming from?” It comes out but it comes out from around the edges.
If we turn over the bottom side of the mod, this is where things get really disappointing. You have this old-school battery cap which I don’t mind that much. What really disappoints me is that they decided to go and make this a single 18650 squonker and not a 21700. Even more of a reason why they shouldn’t have made this a dual coil kit. Come on, man. If you’re going to put a single 18650 in here, you have to just make it a dedicated single coil RDA that you’re going to include in the kit. Just ridiculous to do anything else. But the threading on the cap, pretty smooth. It’s not bad. You can see, it has a little gasket right here that’s going to keep the water out just like on the OG Aegis. Remember that big 26650 one? Same thing. Threading, could be a little better. It’s not the greatest but it’s not terrible either. Make sure you tighten it down nice and then shut it down and you’ll be all watertight.
Over here, these screws here, these are 1.5mm hex screws. Just get your driver in there, they give you a driver, and just pull them out. Same thing on the other side, get your driver in there, and just unscrew them. Pull them out like so and then this part is going to come off. You get rid of the non-squonking part and we’re going to add the squonking part. You see that hole right there? You want to make sure you line that hole up with the hole right here. See that? Want to make sure you put it on just like that. Now you take your two screws that you just took out and you pop them back in there. Get your little driver maybe and just set them straight and screw them in. Find your other screw, pop it in there, get your driver and that’s why you don’t want to tighten down the other side all the way because you’re going to be a little off on this side. So you want to tighten it down a little bit on a time at each side. Now that this side is nice and tight, we can flip it back over here and tighten this down a little more. There you go, now you’re all ready to squonk.
Now here’s something interesting that I didn’t go over on top because there was no use to go over it until we install the squonk bottle. Check that out. That is kind of cool. That is absolutely badass, the way they did that. You got this little bladder right here, you shove your bottle in there and you can fill up your squonk bottle. Awesome, awesome job on this. I’m diggin that. I really am. And look at the slider action. Check that out. Just really, really nice.
Let’s throw a battery in here. Clear, negative marking right over there. I wish it was another color but it definitely is clear enough. So you want your negative side facing the door. Pop it in there, make sure it catches, little reverse-thread maybe, tighten that battery door down and there you go.
Screen & Menu System
Five clicks, you’re going to see the splash screen. You can see, it’s at 100W maximum. It does round robin. It scrolls at 0.1W increments. Once you start going, it scrolls pretty fast in 1W increments, not terrible. Typical Aegis screen, nothing’s really changed. Power, wattage, battery meter, resistance, amps, voltage, puff counter, up and down buttons right here. Hold the plus and power button together, you can adjust your screen brightness. Same thing if you want to go down on the screen brightness, use the minus button and if you want to go up, use the plus button. Menu system as follows. three clicks, see the power lit up. Now I can go into Ni, stainless steel, Ti, TCR, curved mode and bypass mode. Back to power mode. If I go in the stainless steel, you can see, if I hit the power button, I can adjust my wattage all the way up to the full 100W in TC if I want to. Hit the fire button again and I can clear my puffs, can adjust my resistance. Hold the fire button to confirm and you can see, it also scrolls in five degree increments all the way up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit and it does round-robin. Let’s put it back into power mode. Three clicks, back to power mode. And that’s it, folks. That’s basically the whole menu system. Very, very simple, very intuitive menu system. Not a lot to go over here at all.
I do wish the screen was a little brighter. You can see, it just got dimmer. But even when it’s at its brightest, it’s still a little bit on the dim side and that is at 100%. I will say this, I do like the rubberized coating that we’ve come to love on Aegis mods. That’s definitely a plus. Awesome job with that. Has a nice form factor in the hand, a true one-handed squonker. You can fire with this finger, squonk with this finger. Nice, nice job on that.
As usual, with all the Aegis mods, we’re going to do a water test. You can see, I have a bowl of water here. We’re going to drop them out in there. You can see, under water, let’s see, it’s under water. There’s water in there, no jump cuts. Take it out of the water, it’s all soaked and it’s still on. It’ll still fire. I’m not going to throw this thing around. We all know the Aegis line, they’re pretty bulletproof. They can take an average drop, I don’t see any need to drag this behind the car or throw it out of a second-story window. It is what it is. It’s definitely waterproof, that’s for sure.
Now let me show you what I was talking about with the juice coming out just in case you didn’t believe me. See that it comes out of the sides? Did you see that? There it goes.

Alright, Insiders! Let’s check out those cons and pros. We’re going to start off with cons as usual.
First con is going to be, Geekvape, Geekvape, come on man. This should have been a 21700. What the hell are you guys doing? You got killed on the other Aegis that you made that was only a single 18650. You’re not listening. There’s no reason for single 18650 mods anymore. If people don’t want to switch batteries, let them use the damn adapter. If you’re going to make a single cell mod, I want it in 21700 form factor. Capisce.
You put a dual coil RDA in the kit. Give me a break, guys. Come on, you can’t put a dual coil RDA in with a single 18650 mod. It’s just stupid. It’s forcing people to build high for no reason. If you were going to put anything in the kit with this, you should have put a single coil atomizer in the kit with it. It’s a con.
Swapping the bottle out for cleaning or even putting it non-squonk mode is a bit of a pain in the neck. I wish you would have made it more modular where I don’t have to pull out screws and stuff like that. It’s a con.
Sometimes, not so much when I’m using the 60ml bottles, but when I’m using those 120ml chubby gorilla bottles, I can’t get past my atomizer. In order to get the nozzle in there, to top fill it, I got to take the atomizer off. That’s a con. I wish they would have made it so it flips over or so I can fill it from the side or something. I just think they could have executed the top fill a little better.
And the last con’s going to be that battery cap. That screw in battery cap, Jesus Christ do I hate those things. They’re old, it’s old tech. You should have come up with a better way to secure that battery door. I hate those things. It’s a con.
But that’s it on the cons. Let’s move on to the pros because we do have a lot of pros.
First pro is going to be, it’s nice as a squonker or a non-squonker. It performs well in both modes. That’s a pro.
I do like the fact that it’s top fill, I just wish it was executed a little better, but it’s nice to have a top fill mod.
Great form factor. Love the form factor, feels great in the hand. Love it, pro. It’s well built. It’s the type of build quality you’ve come to expect from Geekvape. It’s a pro.
Good chipset, proven chipset, pro.
It fires fast. It’s got nice clicky buttons.
The screen is nice but it’s getting a little tired looking. I wish they would have done something a little different but it still performs well. The screen is fine. It’s a pro.
IP67, dust, water and shockproof, big pro.
Like I said in the beginning of the video, I’ve been running my single coil GR1 on it. Let me show you what I’m working with here. 0.28 coil in there at 62W. Check it out. Just nice. It vapes well, it fires fast, I got no issues with that. I just wish they would have put a single coil atomizer on this thing where I didn’t have to provide my own, but it works really well with single coil atomizers. I like this mod I know I gave it a lot of cons but I liked it a lot. Geekvape really has to start listening to its customer base. There was no reason for this thing not to be a 21700 mod. It’s actually ridiculous that it’s a single 18650 mod. You guys, Geekvape, you got to start listening. The consumers are speaking and you they’re just going to stop buying your stuff if you don’t start listening. Same thing with the atomizer they included, that Tengu atomizer dual coil, just doesn’t match up very well with a single cell mod. It’s a bad job by Geekvape. Despite all that, I like the mod. I like the fact that I can have a bulletproof squonker. I like it a lot. I’ve been enjoying it. If they would have made those two key changes, a single coil atomizer, 21700 mod, this thing would have hit it out of the park. It would have been a major, major win for them.
Let’s get into some of the specs on the Geekvape Aegis squonk kit. It’s a single 18650, 100W mod. It measures in at 87.7mm x 30.9mm x 53.5mm. It is IP67, water shock and dust proof. It has a modular design. You can run it in squonk mode or non-squonk mode. The squonk bottle holds a whopping 10mls of e-liquid. It fires down to 0.05ohms. It charges internally at 1.5amps. It has a 0.96inch display. Protections include 10-Sec, short circuit, overcharge, over discharge, overheating and surge protection. It’s available in silver, green, black, chameleon, blue and red.
